Describes joining up in 1941 and training, with locations, December 1941-October 1943. Includes details of volunteering for special duties, accommodation, civilian impact and assignment to crew of Roy Lotterhos. Describes assignment overseas, arrival in England, month of training missions. Gives detailed descriptions of missions including explanation of 'Big Week', fighter attacks, tactics, mid-air collisions, a typical mission day, length of tour of duty and use of tin foil chaff to confuse German radar.
