Frequently Asked Questions

Have all the records been digitised?

No. Records which have not been digitised can be viewed at the Norfolk Record Office and can be searched through their catalogue, NROCAT (http://nrocat.norfolk.gov.uk/DServe/public/searches/nrousaaf.htm). The catalogue Frequently Asked Questions also allows researchers to access the digitized content and carry out more detailed searches on the whole collection.

Why haven’t all the records been digitised?

Some records have not been made available on this website due to intellectual rights issues or the sensitive content of some of the documents or sound recordings. For more information, see the Image Use page. Our funding for this project enabled us to digitise about 60% of the collection.

I believe I own the copyright to an image or sound recording published on this website; what should I do?

Please refer to the Image Use page, which includes a Take-down Policy and the necessary contact details. If we have published an image or sound recording that should not have been published, we will take it down.

Can I order high quality copies of the images or sound recordings?

In most cases, yes. The images displayed on the website are low resolution JPEG images. If you would like to purchase high resolution (TIFF) images, visit our orders page (link ), or contact the Norfolk Record Office by post, telephone or e-mail. Please remember to tell us which image you would like by citing the appropriate website address or image filename.
