[00:00-05:00] Bomb loads continued. Anecdote about mission where bombs failed to release, jamming aeroplane control cables, and releasing bombs manually. [05:00-10:00] Comments on allied air superiority established by autumn, 1944, P-51 fighter support, and not encountering many German fighters on missions. Describes fighter attack on his squadron over Zuider Zee, Netherlands, and a near mid-air collision in bad weather. [10:00-15:00] Describes mission to St Dizier, France, supplying fuel and maps to General Patton's army: low level flight with a new crew; sleeping in the aeroplane overnight and buying ice-cream. Comments on flying seven missions in nine days during the Battle of the Bulge [16 December 1944-25 January 1945]. [15:00-20:00] Remarks on final mission, Rastatt, Germany, 7 January 1945, summarizes his main missions and comments on his combat tour. Mentions return to the United States, bombardier refresher training, service as a ground school instructor, then as an administrator, until discharge from active service, late 1946, and service in the reserves until retirement, 1980.
