Pilot's individual flight record sheets, 1944, including one showing Paul T. Burton (hereafter PTB) as Missing in Action, April 1944. Official USAAF correspondence including awards of Oak Leaf Clusters to PTB's Air Medal and commending him on the performance of the 565th Squadron, 1943-1944; hotel bills, January 1944 and kennel bills for quarantine of Burton's dog, February, 1944. Personal correspondence which includes the following letters: to Mrs Katherine L. Burton (hereafter KLB) from Mrs Janet Berger of Waukesha, Wisconsin, about hope for further news of PTB after he went missing in action and about having heard news from John, 6 June 1944; to KLB from 1st Lt Thomas A. Rossie, Air Corps Adjutant, about sending 'Brownie' the dog back to the United States; to KLB from Mrs Baber, asking if she had heard from PTB and expressing concern that she had not yet received news of her own husband who was flying on the same aeroplane when it was shot down, 27 August 1944; from Capt Weldon K. Burton (hereafter WKB) in Italy to PTB, about his activities when he was waiting for his aeroplane in Italy, 21 March 1944. Signed 'Don'; to Renee (KLB) from WKB in Italy, about the progress of the war, asking for news of PTB as a prisoner of war, mentions the return of Prisoners of War taken after the mission to Ploesti following liberation of a prison camp in Bucharest. Signed 'Don'. Photographs, possibly of Gen. Timberlake, with an unidentified airman; airman and aeroplane, both unidentified and of PTB at Christmas, undated. Newspaper cutting about Mrs Susie Smith, '10 Grandsons, Three Grandsons-In-Law in Armed Services' ('Little Rock', 11 November 1943), giving brief details of the military service of her grandsons, Paul and Weldon Burton. List noting WKB's crew as missing and giving details of their next of kin, undated.
