Description
Photocopies of newspaper articles (many in French), photographs, correspondence and other documents relating to an aircraft crash, 27 April 1944, at St Cyr de Valorges, France, and Heddleson's subsequent involvement with the French resistance. Includes copies of two versions of Allan A. Michie, 'Scarlet Pimpernels of the Air,' taken from 'Reader's Digest' and 'Skyways,' November, 1945; photocopies of telegrams reporting Heddleson as missing in action and about his wellbeing, with follow up letters from the Adjutant General, August 1944. Also contains correspondence relating to Heddleson's subsequent return to France, facilitated by the US Information Service, for the rededication of a memorial to the crew, 1964.
